SECAD supporting area based Festivals

SECAD is a major supporter of festivals that have the capacity to attract tourists regionally, nationally, even internationally and that will increase the profile of South and East Cork as a visitor destination. SECAD festival funding has supported community based festivals that have the capacity to support tourism employment and local trade and increase bed nights for the region.

SECAD and South & East Cork Tourism have funded the collective promotion of these festivals in a national marketing campaign during the summer of 2010 where a series of weekly adverts were placed in the Irish Examiner to promote them.

Recent festivals have included Carrigtwohill Medieval Festival, Midleton Food and Drink Festival, Youghal Family Fun, East Cork Early Music, ‘Cobh Calls’ Maritime Events (People’s Regatta, Summer Swing and Sea Angling, South of Ireland Pipe Band and Cobh Blues Experience), Cork Harbour Based Events including Crosshaven Traditional Sail, Monkstown Traditional Sail, Cork Harbour Open Day, the Whitegate Rowing Festival, and Carrigaline based events such as Damhsafest.
