Audrey Woodroffe and Caroline Ryan came up with the idea of gourmet jellies when Audrey received a gift of a ‘Jelly Cake’ from her sister who lives in another EU country. It was full of fun size shapes and colour jellies and marshmallows. The kids at the party were very excited and as a bonus the product was free from artificial flavours and colourings. As they are both stay at home mothers this gave them the perfect opportunity to start up their own business and go into partnership.
They explored the cost of liability insurance and the standards set by the HSE to work from home. They were able to source the product for repackaging in Europe.
“We were very fortunate to come upon someone who mentioned SECAD to us. We called SECAD and they listened to our idea and organized for us to go on a ‘Start Up Your Own Business’ course. This gave us the capacity to test our product in a few local shops with more confidence.
