The Heritage Council Grants Programme
Under the 2011 Heritage Council grants Programme, applications for grants are invited under the following three schemes:
- Heritage Research providing assistance for data collection and research relating to Ireland’s heritage;
- Heritage Conservation & Management supporting projects that apply good heritage practice to the management of places, collections or objects and
- Heritage Education, Community and Outreach supporting initiatives linking heritage to communities through education and outreach, promoting active engagement with and raising public appreciation of heritage.
The closing date for receipt of applications is Friday 8th October at 5.00 p.m. Please note that we do not accept applications outside this timeframe.
Applications can only be made through the Online Grants System.
Seniors Alert - Communities Supporting Older People (Department of Community, Equality and Gaeltacht Affairs)
The Seniors Alert Scheme replaced the Scheme of Community Support for Older People on 24th May 2010.
The Scheme, which aims to encourage community support for vulnerable older people in our communities, provides grant assistance towards the purchase and installation of equipment to enable older persons without sufficient means to continue to live securely in their homes with confidence, independence and peace of mind.
Grant support is available towards the purchase and installation of:
- Personal monitored alert systems; and
- Other items to improve the safety and security of the home (including monitored smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, internal emergency lighting and external security lighting).
Grant support can be accessed through community and voluntary groups registered with the Department. All applications for grant support must be submitted through these groups. The Department cannot accept applications for grant support from individuals.
Details of community and voluntary groups registered to operate the Scheme may be requested from the Department at . or by contacting the CSOP Unit.
To qualify for grant support, a person must be:
- Aged 65 years or older; and
- Of limited means or resources; and
- Living alone or with another person who meets the eligibility criteria; and
- Able to benefit from the equipment supplied; and
- Prepared to maintain contact with the community and voluntary group that supplied the equipment.
Grant applications can be made at any stage during the year. Subject to sufficient funds being available, the application process will remain open throughout the year.
Music Capital Scheme
Deadline: Monday 2 November 2009
The Music Capital Scheme was devised by The Arts Council, The IRMA Trust and Music Network to support capital investment in music. The Scheme is a three-year pilot project that is part of a research initiative seeking to analyse the needs for support for capital investment in music as well as the optimum ways of providing this support.
In 2009, the second year of the project, The Arts Council and Music Network are offering financial support in two distinct streams that will run concurrently.
Stream 1: Instrument banks-support for the purchase of instruments for non-professional groups/ensembles such as brass and silver bands, concert bands, symphonic wind ensembles, pipe bands, céil´ bands, youth/amateur orchestras and ensembles, fife and drum (and other marching) bands, big bands, community music groups, percussion and samba groups, pop/rock music collectives, traditional music groups/organisations, choirs, other non-professional groups/ensembles.
Stream 2: Individual instruments-support for the purchase of high quality musical instruments for highly skilled individual performers playing at a professional level.
