Introduction

There are many sources of information about your rights and entitlements. To simplify matters this section choses a few which will cover most of your rights and entitlements in relation to employment, unemployment and social welfare.

 

NERA

NERA is the National Employment Rights Authority (NERA) and provides information to both employees and employers.  NERA also monitors employment conditions through its inspection services and can enforce compliance and seek redress.
NERA covers many aspects of employment rights including Wages, Holidays and Public Holidays - OWT Act 1997, Working Hours, Redundancy, Dismissal, and Notice.

Citizens Information Centres

Citizens Information is an Irish Government website provided by the Citizens Information Board. The site provides public service information for Ireland. It is the most comprehensive site covering all aspects of employment, social welfare, unemployment and related areas.

The Department of Social Protection

The Department of Social Protection has a range of benefits available to people who are unemployed.

The Irish National Organisation of the Unemployed

The National Organisation of the Unemployed  provides information for people who have recently or are about to become unemployed as a result of a redundancy. The organisation's website provides comprehensive welfare to work/welfare rights information for unemployed.
