Community Welfare Service (CWO)

Your local CWO is who you go to if you need exceptional hardship payments, rent allowance, fuel allowance, mortgage interest supplement, back to school footware and clothing allowances. If you ask at your local social welfare office (see above) they will give you the times and location of your local CWO.

Education and Training Board  Adult Guidance Service

The ETB offer a guidance service to adults on education and employment. They have a service in Youghal and Ballincollig.


SECAD’s Employment Service offers one to one support to job seekers including help with CVs and interviews.

The Money Advice and Budgeting Service (MABS) is the only free, confidential, independent and non-judgmental service for people in debt, or in danger of getting into debt, in Ireland. Their Helpline (0761 07 2000) operates Monday to Friday from 9am to 8pm. You can also send an email to if you have any questions.

MABS works with clients by supporting them in drawing up realistic budgets and maximising their incomes. MABS also supports clients in dealing with their debts according to their budgets. MABS does not give "financial advice" – we do not advise clients on investments or on specific financial products. MABS also does not give out money.
