The official launch of the Ring of Cork will happen in Midleton in front of the location for the Midleton Saturday Farmers Market with a time to be confirmed on Saturday the 18th of May.

Over the coming weeks on the SECAD Noticeboard we will look at some of the thriving companies you can hook up with on the Ring of Cork website

Meanwhile we will have more details on the ‘Official’ launch week by week here on the East Cork Journal.

Swell Surf School – East Corks Premier Surf School and Coasteering Centre

Come on an adventure in the Ring of Cork with “Swell Surf School” located at the picturesque Inch Beach, Whitegate where we will guide you through the white waters of the Atlantic. We will get you up and surfing on the crest of a wave, or take you coasteering, a combo of adventure swimming, exploring gullies and caves, traversing and scrambling low sea cliffs above deep water and climbing the rocks to jumping locations.








All our activities are action packed and adrenaline pumping and to wind down afterwards, come and have a cuppa at the Swell Café. All equipment is provided and all our Instructors are fully qualified and Beach lifeguards.

 Will and Away … “Developing people through Nature”

Come on adventure in the Ring of Cork with “Will and Away” in beautiful and spectacular natural settings, while unwinding and getting back to nature, learning how to survive in the wild, sleeping out under the stars, coastal rock climbing and abseiling and experience many other fun outdoor activities such as tree climbing, orienteering, camp craft, team challenges, leave no trace, environmental art and adventure expeditions.

We offer a fun way to learn about the important things in life, and a totally new way of understanding and appreciating our natural environment.  If we wish to protect and preserve our future, we need to look after our environment. We believe this can be achieved through developing a respect and understanding of nature though the activities we provide.

Would you like to share your local knowledge with visitors to your area?

As part of The Gathering 2013, we are looking for Volunteer Ambassadors to provide a warm Irish welcome to visitors during this year’s busy tourist season. Ambassadors will pay a vital role in welcoming tourists to Ireland for the 2013 Gathering and provide them with first hand information about Gathering events in the area.

We are holding Open Info Meetings give more detail and answer your questions. It is optional, not an application requirement – drop in and talk to us.

Time Commitment

The Ambassador programme will run over two Terms in 2013. Term 1 applications are open until May 8th. The dates for the two Terms are:

Term 1: 25th May – 4th August (11 weeks)
Fridays and Saturdays only from 24th May – 22nd June
Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays from 27th June – 4th August

Term 2: 8th August – 12th October (10 weeks)
Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays & Saturdays from 8th August – 31st August
Fridays & Saturdays only from 5th Sept – 12th October

Ambassadors are asked to contribute up to two hours per week for a period of up to 11 weeks. Shifts run from 11am – 1pm and 1pm – 3pm. Volunteers will be able to choose their dates and shifts. Please note that there is limited availability of Volunteer Ambassador roles in each location.
