New Dates for Business Focused Training Programmes

SECAD are delighted to announce new dates for Business Focused Training Programmes. The first of these programmes will commence on February 18th 2013 in the SECAD Training and Mentoring Centre, Midleton.

The Training Programmes are;

These programmes have been designed in response to the specific needs of would be Entrepreneurs and Small Business Owners in the South and East Cork Area.

Grow Your Business 2013

Overview

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This is a programme for progressive business owners who see opportunities to innovate, move forward and achieve business growth. You will be given the guidance, encouragement and practical assistance to help your business move towards realising its full potential.

Participants who have the drive and determination to try new things to achieve business growth will be given every support available including one to one mentor support if appropriate.

The programme will run over 6 morning sessions and will cover topics like;

 Business Strategy

 Business Planning

 Marketing Strategy and Plans

 Growing Sales/ Improving your Selling Skills

 Innovation and Generating New Ideas

Managing your Costs and Cashflow

Understanding the importance of Cost and Cashflow Management is critically important for the success of any business. This programme aims to help business owners understand how to manage their business costs and cashflow effectively.

The programme will run over 3 afternoon sessions and will cover topics like;

 What are the significant costs associated with doing business?

 Are my costs comparable with others in my sector (Benchmarking)?

 Plan of action for reducing costs

 What is Cashflow?

 Top 10 tips to improve your cash flow

 Setting your payment terms

 Managing debtors (how to get paid on time)

 Top tips on credit control and getting paid quickly

 Give participants an understanding of the significant costs in their business and how to manage them

 Give participants an understanding of the importance of managing cashflow in their business

 Give participants simple, practical tips on how to control costs and cashflow

How to do Market Research

This is a very practical step by step programme for anyone who wants to understand how to do Effective Market Research. You may want to start a new business or add a new product or service to your existing business.

If you have a business idea that you think is a winner – test it with this programme!

The programme involves 3 afternoon sessions over a 7 week period. You will work on researching your own idea throughout the programme with expert support during and between sessions. Topics include;

 What is Market Research?

 Primary v’s secondary information

 Sources of information

 How to gather information

 The Market Research Process

 Who are my competitors?

 Does a market exist for my product?

 

Programme Objectives

 Give participants an understanding of the importance of market research

 Give participants a clear market research process and template to follow

 Help participants to decide if an adequate market exists for their product idea

 Help participants to understand if they can realistically access a particular market

 

Who should attend?

Anyone with a business idea who wants to find out if a market exists for the idea. This programme is open to would be entrepreneurs or existing business owners.

Dates: 3 afternoon sessions on February 20th, February 27th and April 10th 2013

Social Media and Online Marketing

This is a practical programme for small business owners who want to maximise their online activities. You will get an overview of Social Media and also a practical tutorial on how to use each of the platforms for your business. You will learn about the business opportunities that are available through Social Media and you can decide what your own Social Media strategy is.

The Online Marketing part of the programme looks at driving online traffic to your business including Web Optimisation and Pay per Click advertising.

The programme will run over 3 afternoon sessions and cover topics like;

 Social Media Overview, Blogging and Facebook

 Twitter, LinkedIn and others

 Social Media Management

 Web Optimisation, Google Adwords and other pay per click advertising

 

Programme Objectives

 Give participants an understanding of the opportunities that exist online to market your business

 Give participants practical help in devising a Social Media strategy for business

 Help participants to access new customers and markets through online marketing

Business owners with a basic understanding of Social Media and Online Marketing who want to increase their knowledge and improve their effectiveness online.

How to Pitch your Business and Generate Sales

Overview

This is a practical 3 session programme for small business owners who want to be more effective at presenting themselves and their products to potential customers. A significant focus will be on making effective presentations to purchasing departments and buyers from large retail organisations and other similar organisations.

The programme will cover things like;

 Effective Sales Conversation with the Buyer

 Managing Motivation and Drive when Selling

 Time Management in Selling

 Developing Partnerships with Clients

 Skills for making Effective Sales Presentations

 Customer Care

 Credit Control – getting paid in full and on time

 

Programme Objectives

 Give participants an understanding of how to give an effective sales presentation

 Develop participants confidence around selling their product

 Give participants an understanding of how to gain and sustain momentum in generating sales

Small business owners who want to improve their ability to make sales presentations, gain new customers and sell more product to their existing customers.

Start Your Own Business

Overview

It is important for every business, whether start up or established, to have an effective and comprehensive Business Plan in place to guide and direct the business. If you require financial assistance from a financial institution (e.g. a bank) or a funding body (e.g. SECAD), the first document you will be asked to produce is a Business Plan.

This programme will bring you through the necessary steps in developing your business plan. You will be given access to all the support necessary to complete your plan – if you have the drive and determination to do so.

The programme will run over 8 morning sessions and will cover topics like;

 Business Idea Generation and Steps to Starting a Business

 Introduction to The Business Plan & Market Research

 Marketing

 Finance

 Finalising Your Business Plan – Bringing it all together

 

Programme Objectives

 To give participants an understanding of what’s involved in starting a business

 To give participants a good understanding of each aspect of a business plan

 To give participants a template to test the viability of their business idea

 To give participants the guidance, mentoring and support to complete an effective business plan

 

Who should attend?

Anyone with a business idea who wants to test the idea and design a Business Plan.

Dates: 8 sessions on Feb 22nd, March 1st, March 8th, March 15th, March 22nd, March 29th, April 12th and April 19th 2013.

Times: 9.30am – 12.30pm
