SECAD Showcase Day

IF You have had any involvement over the years, presently or hope to have the ‘Local Development Company’ to work with in the future, it may be a good thing to mark 12 Noon into your Diary for next Monday the 7th of April at the Rochestown Park Hotel as SECAD showcases the work in the ‘Past, Present and Future’ with special guest on the day the Minister for Agriculture, Marine and Food Mr Simon Coveney.

Minister Coveney and SECAD CEO Ryan Howard at the official opening of the SECAD Training and Mentoring Centre at the SECAD Offices in Midleton last year.

Next Monday will be a positive celebration of not only what SECAD has brought to the table since it formed back in 1995 as East Cork Area Development, but also what the great Communities, Groups and Associations have brought themselves to make this such a successful partnership.

The day is open to everyone and anyone who wishes to come along is very welcome. The event starts at 12 Noon and finishes at 2pm and there will be fantastic displays in place, some fantastic success stories, there will be presentations of ‘Training Certificates’ along with some food and beverages.

John Horgan Chairman of South and East Cork Area Development

Speakers on the day will include Chairman of South and East Cork Area Development John Horgan, CEO of South and East Cork Area Development Ryan Howard and Minister Coveney.

Ryan Howard told the East Cork Journal “We would be delighted to see everyone at our ‘SECAD Showcase’ to be held on the 7th April 2014 at 12 noon in the Rochestown Park Hotel.

This will include a major exhibit of SECAD Supported Enterprise, Employment, Amenities and Facilities, Community Placements, Networks and Men/Women & Youth Focused Programmes and Projects”.

Mr Howard added “ This ‘showcase’ will be centred around the people of South and East Cork, we will be encouraging them to share their experiences (with other attendees) of working with SECAD and any impact on their personal lives, businesses or communities that they have experienced as a result of our interactions or interventions. Many will know ‘some’ of what a Local Development Company like SECAD is delivering, managing or hosting.  Our aim on the day is to inform attendees about ‘all’ of the work that SECAD supports and delivers. We will also be actively seeking your views about the focus for the future.  What is your hope and vision for the area in the coming years?  What will be the major challenges and opportunities in achieving this vision?  What role (strategies) you believe SECAD could have in overcoming these challenges and realising these opportunities? How would you contribute in supporting SECAD to deliver these strategies in the coming years?

Mr Howard concluded by saying “We encourage you to be in the Rochestown Park at 12 noon (7th April 2014) to be part of each element of the Showcase and we will be closing the final elements by 2pm. We would be delighted if you can attend, to listen, learn and share with people from every part of the SECAD area and to help us in beginning the process of building a local vision for the future”

SECAD supporting Communities for many years, now need’s your support!
