Reviving the heart of the village
Supported through the LEADER programme

Built in the 1950s through Muintir na Tíre and local effort, Ballinadee Hall was once the heart of village life. As rural life changed, the hall fell into decline — until a 2016 public meeting sparked its revival.
With just six committee members and overwhelming community support, a heartfelt fundraising campaign took shape, featuring 5k walks, concerts, and coffee mornings. Supported by SECAD through the LEADER Programme, the restoration works were completed and the hall officially reopened in 2019. Now buzzing with activity —from youth groups and concerts to fitness classes and social events — the hall is once again a vibrant community space.
This is more than a building. It’s a powerful story of resilience, unity, and hope in rural Ireland.

Over the past 30 years, SECAD Partnership has supported more than 500 community infrastructure, building, and amenity projects, providing guidance and grant aid of up to €500,000. Each has made a difference locally – this is one such story.
