Broadcasting community, connection & care
Supported through the LEADER and SICAP programmes

For decades, Community Radio Youghal has been a voice for inclusion, connection,
and support. Thanks to funding from SECAD, the station’s home at Nagle House in
Youghal was renovated to include two studios and vital community space — enabling
diverse, local programming that reflects and uplifts the entire community.

During the COVID-19 crisis, SECAD’s support helped produce a powerful ten-part
“Coping with Covid” series, which informed and reassured listeners, particularly
those isolated or living with disabilities.
The series won national recognition at the CRAOL Awards for its social impact —
just one example of how this volunteer-led station strengthens social cohesion
through storytelling, solidarity, and sound.

Over the past 30 years, SECAD Partnership has supported more than 500 community infrastructure, building, and amenity projects, providing guidance and grant aid of up to €500,000. Each has made a difference locally – this is one such story.
