Where community, nature, and fun grow together
Supported through the LEADER programme

Leahy’s Open Farm, family-run for over 20 years, blends traditional farming with rural enterprise.
Supported by SECAD from the start, the Leahy family began with a mission to preserve farming heritage — animals, equipment, and buildings. Over time, the farm expanded to include attractions like an adventure path, crazy golf, digger park, playbarn, maze, tractor trails, and more. In recent years, they diversified with the Ice Cream & Chocolate Factory, using milk from their own cow “Daisy” to create homemade treats.
With a café, seasonal camps, school tours, and strong sustainability efforts, Leahy’s is a model of community-led development. The farm was also awarded the Talamh Sustainable Living Award for its ecological
practices.

SECAD Partnership has supported over 200 businesses with advice and grants of up to €200,000. These enterprises play a vital role in creating local jobs and sustaining rural communities – this is one such story.
