Helping people help nature help people

Supported through The European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and LEADER

Wild Work, launched by SECAD Partnership in 2017, supports everyone committed to helping nature, with a focus on connecting local communities and businesses with biodiversity. Wild Work blends people’s interest in protecting local habitats with the wellbeing benefits of engaging with nature.

Through the initiative, SECAD helps the wider community to design and deliver social responsibility programmes, engaging people in biodiversity projects. Local groups, volunteers, schools and farmers work together to restore habitats and create and use outdoor classrooms in meadows, woodlands, rivers, beaches and other spaces. Participants gain hands-on experience, develop new skills, and strengthen their bond with nature.

SECAD also integrates Wild Work approaches into social inclusion and rural development programmes, extending its positive impact. The initiative is funded by government programmes and private investment, with every euro generated invested back to help people help nature – and nature help people.
