Sustainable Communities Training Programme

Community members in 16 towns in South, East and West Cork are taking part in the SECAD Sustainable Communities Training Programme which started out on 15th September 2021.

The programme seeks to enable communities to build Community Development Teams and participants in the programme are currently taking part in training to enable them to develop Community-Led Sustainability Plans, including detailed plans for Legacy Projects for their own communities.

The core programme will run until June 2022 and has started with a series of weekly workshops that cover a wide range of important sustainability topics. The participants are supported throughout as they build their sustainability plans with members of their own community, before finally presenting their work as a group at the showcase in autumn 2022.

Who is this programme for?
The following people are currently taking part in this programme:

  • Community volunteers already involved in groups in their own area
  • Community members with skills, interests and ideas and who are not part of a group in their own area
  • Business owners and individuals who would like the opportunity to work remotely or set up a business in their own local area

Could you be one of a diverse range of voices in your community who are currently developing a plan for your community’s future?

It’s not too late to join in!

This programme will give you the opportunity to link with your own community members to learn, share ideas and prioritise plans to develop a strong sustainable community integrating social, economic and environmental strands.
