Local Area Employment Service

Welcome to INTREO Partner Local Area Employment Service (LAES) we provide one-to-one guidance to unemployed individuals who are long term unemployed, helping to progress towards employment, education and skills training.

To access our service, individuals need to be referred by their local Intreo Office.

The LAES operates is an initiative of the Department of Social Protection and is part of the national public employment service.

SECAD collaborates with Cork City Partnership in the delivery of this services. Cork City partnership is the lead partner for the LAES spanning the city and county of Cork.

SECAD delivers the LAES in East & West Cork with our main offices including:

  • Youghal
  • Cobh
  • Carrigaline
  • Clonakilty
  • Skibbereen
  • Bantry

We offer a supportive and confidential employment support service to help people who are long-term unemployed to identify meaningful routes back to employment, education / training and work experience.

Our service is a one-to-one employment support services that is built on the principles of respect, non-judgement, confidentiality, and professionalism.

The key focus of the LAES is to help our clients return to employment, training and work experience. Our range of supports are delivered in a tailored manner to suit the specific needs of each client.

Our team provide a tailored service to meet the specific needs of each client experiencing unemployment. We take a person-centred approach being mindful to adapt the service to everyone that engages with our services.

Our service can help you with:

  • Career direction and exploration
  • Development of CVs and Cover letters
  • Interview preparation
  • Finding suitable education and training
  • Exploration of self-employment for people looking to start a business
  • Transitioning to a new job
  • Signposting to further support services such as: ETB courses, Tús, Community Employment Schemes, SICAP Employment Supports, in-house training for Safe Pass, Manual Handling, Food Safety (HAACP), as well as a range of other based community supports and services.
