Supporting communities accross the island of Ireland
Since 2015, SECAD has managed Community Benefit Funds from wind farms, solar farms, and energy infrastructure projects, ensuring nearby communities share the benefits of renewable development.
As one of Ireland’s leading Community Benefit Fund managers, SECAD supports communities with independent application processes, expert guidance, and transparent reporting.
Community Benefit Funds support a diverse variety of community-led initiatives, including energy-efficient building upgrades, biodiversity projects, youth and education programmes, public amenities, and projects enhancing community-based services.
By 2025, SECAD will have supported through Community Benefit Funds over 1,500 projects in more than 50 locations across every province of Ireland. Each made a difference locally.

One great example of the projects supported through CBF is the Youghal Community Bus, funded through the EirGrid Celtic Interconnector Community Benefit Fund. The service now includes a new electric, wheelchair-accessible bus, offering affordable, inclusive transport
for residents, especially older people and those with disabilities.
