How the Tús programme helps build a brighter future
Supported through the SECAD Tús initiative
“Tús gave me a real chance. Now I have a stable job, a future, and a place to call
home.” – Fires Mousa.
Fires Mousa arrived in Ireland in 2019, fleeing war in Syria. At 19, he was determined to learn English, develop skills, and find meaningful work. The Tús initiative, coordinated by SECAD partnership, helped him secure a one-year placement with FoodCloud, where he built confidence, improved his language, and gained valuable experience. After completing the placement, he was offered a full-time contract.
Today, Fires leads the team of staff and volunteers at FoodCloud’s warehouse. With a steady job, strong community ties, and plans to build a life with his fiancée.
Fires’ story shows how the right support can help rebuild a life.

SECAD Partnership has provided tailored employment and business start-up supports, job skills training, and guidance on further education to over 18,000 individuals — this is one of their stories.
