Community is our superpower

Supported through SICAP

Due to global conflicts, more people are coming to Ireland seeking safety and support. They bring resilience, talents, and hopes for a new start, yet face the challenge of rebuilding their lives.

Since 2022, SECAD has supported over 1,200 people from 20 nationalities, including emergency aid for nearly 2,000 Ukrainians fleeing the war.

Our programmes include orientation workshops, English Conversation Clubs, employment support, wellbeing initiatives, and skills training, delivered across six Cork hubs and some accommodation centres. In June 2025, we celebrated over 100 participants completing training in healthcare, construction, food safety, and security, and we are delighted for those who are now in jobs or self-employed.

Every September, food festivals in Midleton and Macroom bring communities together to celebrate diversity with flavours and music from around the world. At SECAD, community is our superpower – together we build belonging, opportunity, and a shared future.

SECAD Partnership promotes social inclusion, supporting isolated and vulnerable community members through personal development, capacity-building, and integration initiatives – this is one such story.

Discover more stories highlighting SECAD’s 30-year journey in promoting rural development and social inclusion in East, South, and West Cork and across the island of Ireland since 1995.
