A vision realised for West Cork’s youth
Supported through the LEADER programme

After two decades of dedication and a lot of hard work, Clonakilty Community Youth Centre officially opened in September 2023. It is the first purpose-built youth facility in West Cork.
With grant support through LEADER West Cork, managed by SECAD, a long-vacant council building was transformed into a modern, fully accessible space.
Today, the centre is alive with activity. It features a music studio, activity rooms, a kitchen, and welcoming social spaces for young people. It also serves as the regional base for Foróige, providing leadership and volunteer opportunities for local youth.
This project demonstrates what can be achieved through a shared belief in the
potential of young people.

Over the past 30 years, SECAD Partnership has supported more than 500 community infrastructure, building, and amenity projects, providing guidance and grant aid of up to €500,000. Each has made a difference locally – this is one such story.
