Once a disused 19th-century church overlooking Kinsale Harbour, St. Catherine’s has been beautifully restored as a cultural, historical, and community space for all.

Led by a dedicated local committee, the project began in 2019 intending to preserve key features — including the stained-glass windows, organ, and wall hangings — while equipping the space with modern amenities like stage lighting, sound system, kitchen, and toilets.

Supported through a LEADER grant managed by SECAD, support from Cork County Council and generous community fundraising, the transformation is now complete.

St. Catherine’s Cultural Centre stands as a vibrant new hub for arts, events, and local heritage in the heart of Kinsale.

Over the past 30 years, SECAD Partnership has supported more than 500 community infrastructure, building, and amenity projects, providing guidance and grant aid of up to €500,000. Each has made a difference locally – this is one such story.
