Cove Sailing Club has been part of Cobh life since 1919, bringing people together
through sailing and events like the Cobh People’s Regatta and the historic Cobh–
Blackrock Race. For many years, the club had no permanent facilities, limiting
its activities. With SECAD support through LEADER programme funding — and
backing from Cork County Council, Sports Capital and the Port of Cork —
Whitepoint Marina was developed and completed in 2021.
Today, the marina provides 26 berths, a fully accessible ferry terminal, and
supports sailing, angling, triathlon and rowing clubs. It encourages junior members
and welcomes everyone with full wheelchair access.
More than a marina, it’s a story of heritage, vision, and community spirit of Cork
Harbour.

Visit the Cove Sailing Club website to learn more about the club operations.

Over the past 30 years, SECAD Partnership has supported more than 500 community infrastructure, building, and amenity projects, providing guidance and grant aid of up to €500,000. Each has made a difference locally – this is one such story.
